Fixing a Gravel Filled Crawl Space in Essex County, ON

Problem: Many homeowners believe that putting a layer of gravel in their crawl space will solve the water and moisture problems. This isn’t true and doesn’t work.

Gravel is porous and it does not stop water from moving or collecting.

Fixing a crawl space with a gravel floor presents two challenges:

  1. It is difficult to dig trenches and create drains to properly direct the water out of the crawl space compared to dirt.

  2. To further keep the humidity level acceptable and encapsulate the space, a very heavy duty liner is required, as the liner will be more prone to rips and tears with the rough gravel below it.

Solution:

  • Our experienced team members were able to create trenches and drains to effectively move the water into the crawl space sump pump.

  • Our CleanSpace®️ Liner is super heavy duty and durable enough to withstand the rocky floor encapsulated below.

Sump Pump Upgrade Belle River, ON

Problem: This sump pump does not have an air-tight lid and is letting lots of humidity into the basement because water is almost always resting in the bottom of the sump liner.

Solution: We installed a customer lid, a new submersible pump and a battery back-up pumping system.

Foundation Crack Repair Belle River, ON

Problem: This poured concrete foundation has a hairline crack which is letting water in. The fiberglass insulation is soaking up this water and is starting to mould. The foundation crack comes off the bottom corner of a window, which is very common due to a structural weakness.

Solution: A flexible, 3 layer, textured urethane and foam material is applied. Our patended Flexi Span comes with a 25 year warranty.

Creating a Dry and Sealed Crawl Space Windsor, ON

Problem: This home’s crawl space was damp and musty. Through what is known as The Stack Effect, this undesirable air made its way into the home, resulting in musty, damp and mouldy smells. Some of the fibreglass insulation on the exterior walls was wet and had lost its insulating properties.

Solution: We improved the drainage in the space and encapsulated the dirt floor with our heavy duty CleanSpace crawl space vapour barrier. Our team also added mould and mildew proof SprayFoam Insulation on the exterior walls and also as a sealant on the vapour barrier.
