Our Permanent Solution to a Dry Basement

We’d like to share with you exactly how our inspection, products, installation and service work together for a permanently dry basement.

We’ll use a common problem as an example to demonstrate our system.

After a moderate to heavy rainfall, homeowners Bob and Stella frequently notice water seepage or pooling in the corner of their unfinished basement. Aside from the water damage, their basement and home often smells musty and feels damp.

Bob and Stella arrange for a free inspection and estimate from one of our trained basement waterproofing specialists. Our inspector notes areas of water intrusion based on evidence of past leakage and receives feedback from Bob and Stella. The inspector documents and photographs the problem areas.

In this situation, water is penetrating the home through the basement walls. Our inspector also notes that Bob and Stella have an older sump pump, with an open, unsealed pit.

Waterguard System Basement WaterproofingBased on the all the information obtained during the very thorough inspection, our inspector recommends an interior perimeter drain, which will collect the water as it leaks into their basement; our patented WaterGuard system on the two walls which show signs of water damage.

Where will this collected water drain to?

The inspector recommends to Bob and Stella a new sump pump: our TripleSafe sump pump, as it’s designed to not only collect the water from the ground directly but will also connect to the newly installed perimeter drain.

Our TripleSafe sump pump is a superior product for many reasons:

  • It has 3 pumps:
    • A standard Zoeller pump which handles the majority of the collected water.
    • A second Zoeller pump which sits slightly higher in the case of excess water.
    • A third battery powered pump which operates even during a power outage.
  • TripleSafe Pump System Inside LookThe system is housed in a sturdy liner, which ensures the pumps won’t get clogged in a dirty pit.
  • The liner has an airtight lid which prevents additional moisture from the sump pit from entering the basement. The lid also prevents dirt and debris from entering the pumps which could cause pump failure.
  • CleanPump Stands are installed to raise the pumps off of the bottom of the liner. Any silt or sediment that settles on the bottom of your sump pit will be kept away from the pumps.
  • It includes an airtight floor drain in case of a plumbing leak which allows water to easily flow into the sump pit but doesn’t allow for the humid, undesirable air to come up.
  • A battery-powered alarm which goes off when the water level reaches a point to where it should be pumping out, but isn’t.

The inspector has demonstrated to Bob and Stella a permanent solution to their leaky basement problem (which includes a lifetime, written warranty of our WaterGuard system); our inspector further recommends an annual maintenance program.

Servicing your basement waterproofing system is crucial to keeping your system working like it should.

Annual servicing may involve:

  • Removing silt or sediment from the base of the sump pit
  • Servicing, cleaning or replacing valves, switches, batteries, and pipes

An annual maintenance on your system helps find Stella and Bob discover any potential problems before they find their basement!

While it’s important to note that every home is constructed differently, and each basement will have unique needs, we are the experts in “All Things Basementy” and we have a permanent solution to all basement challenges.
