Help for Freezing Discharge Lines

ice guard protection from freezing sump pump discharge linesWe are in control of a lot of things in our lives, but one thing we can’t control is the weather! Here we review a recent weather event that seriously affected many homeowners in southwestern Ontario.

The extreme cold temperatures we experienced in southwestern Ontario during the winter of 2015/2016 caused problems for some homeowners with sump pumps.

Often sump pumps discharge into the yard via shallowly buried lines, which can freeze halting the discharge process, resulting in backup and flooded basements.

The frozen and blocked pipes simply cannot dispel the water, even with the best sump pump system installed.

At Advanced Basement Systems, we have a solution to frozen and blocked sump pump discharge lines: The IceGuard® Discharge Line System.

The IceGuard® System is a uniquely engineered fitting installed on the outside of your home which automatically ejects the water away from the exterior wall when the discharge line freezes. The openings allow for water to safely expel when pipes are frozen, and drain normally when not blocked.

We believe that being proactive is the best stance to avoid to damage. If you’d like a free inspection and estimate, please reach out to us
