Attic Insulation Photo Album: Attic Insulation Improvements - Blenheim, ON

The home required some additional insulation to bring it up to the recommended R-60 value in Southern Ontario. During the inspection it was noted that several perforations in the ceiling were left unsealed. Several steps were used to remedy the situation including: removing the old insulation, sealing the perforations (air leaks), adding soffit baffles and finally installing 17” of blown in cellulose attic insulation to the R-60 value recommended.

New Blown in Cellulose

Advanced Basement Systems uses blown in cellulose, not fiberglass, to complete attic insulation and improve the efficiency of the home.

Recommended R60 Attic Insulation

Cellulose blown in to a minimum depth of 17" to get the recommended R60 value.

Old insulation Removed.

All old insulation is vacuumed out to make way for the next stage.

Seal the Perforations

Baffles are installed with damming. This allows the soffit to breathe and the damming stops cellulose insulation to fall down into the soffit and blocking it!
