Spray Foam Insulation Photo Album: Detached Garage Spray Foam - South Woodslee, ON
For this steel-framed detached garage, we applied 2" of closed-cell spray foam insulation, achieving an R-value of R14. The peak height reached 12 feet, making proper preparation essential. We always take prep seriously—using wide painter’s tape, poly, and drop cloths—to ensure a clean, professional finish.
This project also created what’s known as a “hot roof.” Unlike traditional attics that are ventilated and insulated at the attic floor, a hot roof is insulated directly against the roof deck. This method seals the attic space completely, eliminating air leaks, boosting energy efficiency, and protecting the structure from moisture issues.
The end result: a well-sealed, durable, and energy-efficient garage that will perform year-round.
Before
This homeowner will empty the contents prior to spraying.
Roof
We'll be hot-roofing this garage.
Clean
You can't ask for more! A beautiful, clean job.
Walls
You can see how important poly is. The concrete floor remained untouched by the inevitable over-spray of the foam.
Hot-Roof
We're working from heights certified and can safely achieve the desired results on the ceiling.
Obstructions
Spraying closed-cell foam isn't easy and obstructions like this, especially on the ceiling, make it harder. Our installer Logan did a great job here.
