The home was built using a proper vapour barrier and fiberglass batt insulation in the attic. The insulation provided an R value of approximately R25. The homeowner noticed the upper levels were cool during the winter and warm in the summer.

Before:

The home was built using concrete block foundation walls and a concrete floor. Overtime as the original drainage system deteriorates or clogs up, water builds up and forces its way into the basement, this is sometimes referenced to as hydrostatic pressure. As shown, the seepage is pooling near the wall and floor joint.

After:

Advanced Basement Systems installed their interior drainage system called Waterguard along with a vapour barrier 2 feet high. The system is designed to divert the water to the sump pump to then be pumped away from the outside walls before it seeps through to the floor.
