After a thorough inspection, we created a plan to permanently solve this challenging crawl space.

Problem: 

It was immediately evident when our inspector entered this home that there was a serious water and humidity problem. The basement leaked for decades and the excessive water in the space increased the humidity level in the entire home, making it smell terrible. Even the items stored in the basement had a funky smell. 

The bad odor is not just a smell… it’s actually mould and mildew allergens that the entire family was breathing in, even though they all avoided the basement! 

Solution: 

We installed an interior waterproofing system which consists of an in-floor drain, which moves any leaking water into the sump pump. A radiant wall barrier provides an extra layer of protection against water intrusion and helps to keep the space comfortable as it reflects heat back into the basement. 

Our waterproofing system helps to regulate the excessive humidity caused by water leaks and thereby reduces funky smells and allergens in homes.

Problem: This home’s crawl space was damp and musty. Through what is known as The Stack Effect, this undesirable air made its way into the home, resulting in musty, damp and mouldy smells. Some of the fibreglass insulation on the exterior walls was wet and had lost its insulating properties.

Solution: We improved the drainage in the space and encapsulated the dirt floor with our heavy duty CleanSpace crawl space vapour barrier. Our team also added mould and mildew proof SprayFoam Insulation on the exterior walls and also as a sealant on the vapour barrier.
