Crawl Space Repair Before & After Photos

This home was inspected by Cory Lahey. He saw the home needed help in a variety of areas within the crawl space. Our crew went out and installed products to allow this homeowner the ability to have a safe, dry and comfortable crawl space area. 

Problem: This home in Windsor had many problems in the crawl space which affected the entire home:

-        Sloping, unlevel floors due to beam failure and ineffective supports

-        Windows and doors that were hard to open and close due to the unlevel floors

-        Floors and ceilings had gaps between the unlevel walls

-        A musty smell which was coming from the wet crawl space

-        High energy bills due to inefficient crawl space insulation and a fluctuating and damp crawl space environment.

-        Removed the debris

-        Installed new beams

-        Installed and leveled the floors with Smart Jacks

-        Installed a sump pump specially designed for crawl spaces

-        Improved the drainage system of the crawl space

-        Encapsulated the crawl space with a CleanSpace® Liner, sealing it off from the penetration wet environment

-        Installed spray foam insulation for improved energy efficiency

Problem: This home’s crawl space was damp and musty. Through what is known as The Stack Effect, this undesirable air made its way into the home, resulting in musty, damp and mouldy smells. Some of the fibreglass insulation on the exterior walls was wet and had lost its insulating properties.

Solution: We improved the drainage in the space and encapsulated the dirt floor with our heavy duty CleanSpace crawl space vapour barrier. Our team also added mould and mildew proof SprayFoam Insulation on the exterior walls and also as a sealant on the vapour barrier. 

Problem: This tight and musty area under the home was starting to cause mould growth on the wood supports. Wood is everywhere inside a home and if it begins to rot due to high humidity and moisture, it can be a very costly repiar. We needed to get to work here right away!

Solution: We cleaned out all the debris of this small space. Then we installed our Clean Space Encapsulation System (the white liner). Once that was installed, our crew came in and spray foam insulated the headers (above the foundation wall where a lot of air leaks get in). The space is now safe and healthy.
