Sealing a Crawl Space Access in Erieau, ON

Challenge: Access doors or open vents in a crawl space is one of the areas where the outside environment enters and affects an entire home.

Solution: A sealed crawl space access is one of the many things we do when encapsulating a crawl space. We also installed a well for improved access and drainage.

Crawl Space Rehab in Kent County ON

Challenge: This crawl space could be described as “high and dry”... but the dirt floor and lack of insulation on the exterior walls made the home’s floor cold during the winter months.

Solution: We completely sealed the crawl space from the outside environment, and added spray foam insulation. Spray foam offers a  high R-value, sealing air leaks and also serving as a moisture barrier.

Improved Crawl Space Access, Blenheim ON

Problem: The homeowner required improved access to their crawl space.

Solution: We installed a steel window well, as part of the crawl space access is below grade and added an EverLast crawl space access door which seals tightly for an ideal crawl space environment.

Improving a Crawl Space Access in Kent County, ON

Problem: These home owners contacted Advanced Basement Systems to improve their crawl space environment for the benefit and health of the entire home. The access area was unlevel, often wet and not properly enclosed.

Solution: With crawl space accesses, there are two important points to remember:

  1. The access needs to be accessible.
  2. The access needs to be sealed so the outside fluctuations in temperature and humidity do not affect the improved crawl space environment.

Our team did a great job improving this access area for ease of entry and to seal off the outside environment from the crawl space.

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Kent County, ON

Although this crawl space was very clean with little evidence of pests and no standing water, the unencapsulated space still affected the home above by what is known as the stock effect. https://www.advancedbasementsystems.net/home-mold/stack-effect.html Resulting in problems such as:

  • Damp, musty smells

  • Higher than healthy levels of humidity

  • Less-than-desirable heating and cooling costs

The best method to remedy these problems is by completely sealing off the crawl space from the outside environment! Our Advanced Basement Systems team was happy to help these Chatham homeowners.
