Problem: A dirt floor crawl space can cause many problems in a home. High humidity is an unhealthy environment and a breeding ground for mould and allergens, as well as damaging to organic structures such as wood beams, joists and flooring.
Solution: We completely sealed this crawl space with our heavy duty crawl space liner (so durable you can easily walk on it and store items on it) – now the crawl space is dry and clean.

Problem: Open crawl space vents allow for the outside air to easily enter a crawl space. Fluctuations in weather combined with the naturally damp and humid environment in a crawl space means a home is likely to have cold floors, higher humidity and a damp, musty smell.
Open crawl space vents are also an invitation to pests to live under your home!
Solution: We replaced all the open vents and installed airtight vent covers. Although the covers are only part of creating a healthy and dry crawl space environment – it’s an important step!

Problem: This multi-level dirt floor crawl space was a challenge successfully met by our crew! The open vents were resulting in cold floors during the winter. In the summer the crawl space was damp and musty; the foul odour affected the entire home.
Solution: We sealed off the open vents and installed a CleanSpace liner vapour barrier system; which totally encapsulates the crawl space. Our crew also applied moisture-resistant spray foam insulation to help make the home more energy efficient.

Problem: Window wells are necessary to keep the structure around a window draining properly, keep water and debris away from the window and to improve egress.
Solution: We installed window wells on all the basement windows of this home.

Before
The cottage had an unfinished and uninsulated crawl space which allows moisture, odours and cold air to penetrate the upper living levels. The HVAC system had to work harder to maintain a more comfortable living spaces above.
After
Advanced Basement Systems encapsulated the space and added spray foam insulation to the exterior walls and headers. Encapsulating the crawl space will protect the cottage by controlling moisture, preventing mould, structural damage and deterring pests. Insulation will provide temperature control and reduce the energy required to heat/cool the space.
Give Advanced Basement Systems a call if you are concerned about your crawl space and how it is affecting the home.
